RELEASE OF FUNDS TO TELANGANA UNDER JAL JEEVAN MISSION

Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that recent field assessments in Telangana have identified
a large number of rural households that still require functional tap water connections, service-
level improvements or restoration of non-functional connections and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has examined Telangana’s updated Action Plan seeking support
under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and whether the funds have not been released causing
uncertainty for ongoing and proposed drinking water works and if so, the details thereof along
with the reasons therefor;
(c) whether the Government would clarify the criteria being applied for the release of JJM
funds as the State continues to report significant gaps in coverage in several mandals including
those in the Constituency and if so, the details thereof;
(d) the manner in which Telangana is expected to address these gaps without timely Central
assistance; and
(e) the timeline fixed by which State-wise allocations under the JJM would be finalised so that
essential drinking water works are not delayed?

(a) to (e) As reported by Government of Telangana in JJM IMIS, 100% rural households of
Telangana have been covered with tap water connections. To make provision of tap water
supply to every rural household across the country, Government of India in partnership with
States, is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Har Ghar Jal since August, 2019. The initial
estimated outlay of the Mission was Rs. 3.60 lakh Crore, out of which Central share was Rs.
2.08 lakh Crore. Almost entire Central share approved by the Cabinet has been utilized.
