In response to Unstarred Question No. 883, answered on 04.02.2026, regarding renewable energy potential in Uttar Pradesh, the Minister of State for New & Renewable Energy and Power, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, stated that the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has informed that the estimated solar potential (ground mounted) in the Banda-Chitrakoot region is 1530.3 MW, as per the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) assessment. A total of 260 MW Solar Power Projects (Utility Solar Project) have been commissioned, with additional projects under implementation in the Banda-Chitrakoot region. The estimated availability of paddy straw is 167 lakh tonnes yearly, as per the Planning Department Uttar Pradesh report. Availability of non-fossil fuel based green energy contributes to sustainable energy development and local jobs through employment generation.

Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) whether any assessment has been made on the potential of solar, wind or bio-energy in the Banda-
Chitrakoot region of Uttar Pradesh;
(b) whether any proposal is under consideration for setting up of renewable energy projects in the
said area;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether any assessment has been made by the Government on the possible impact of this on
availability of energy and employment; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?
