Parliament Question: Response of States to Rooftop Solar Installations

SELVARAJ V will the minister of new and renewable energy be pleased to state: (a) the details of response of the States and the households to the rooftop solar installations under the Pradhan Mantri- Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY); and (b) the details of the number of solar installations completed so far, households covered, installation capacity and subsidy released, State-wise? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) & (b) The PMSG: MBY is a demand-driven scheme wherein all residential consumers across the country, having a grid-connected electricity connection with the local DISCOM, can avail the benefits of the scheme, for installation of RTS systems by applying on the National Portal (www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in) of the scheme. All States/UTs are participating in the scheme. Under the scheme, since its launch in February 2024, a total of 76,81,382 applications have been received, 41,19,791 rooftop solar (RTS) systems with a cumulative installed capacity of 14,653.23 MW have been installed, benefitting 49,62,050 households and an amount of Rs. 27,855.99 crore has been released as Central Financial Assistance (CFA), as on 31.07.2026.
