GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 6053 TO BE ANSWERED ON 01.04.2026 REVIEW OF OVERALL STATUS OF ENROLMENT AND AUTHENTICATION SERVICES UNDER AADHAAR 6053. SHRI MANI A: Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has reviewed the overall status of enrolment & authentication services under Aadhaar in the State of Tamil Nadu including the total number of Aadhaar holders and operational enrolment centres in the State; (b) the total number of Aadhaar centres currently operational in Dharmapuri district along with the number of handheld enrolment devices deployed through post offices, hospitals and other authorised agencies and the number of residents enrolled or updated during the last three years; (c) whether the Government has organised Aadhaar enrolment camps in rural and tribal habitations of Dharmapuri district during the last two years and if so, the number of beneficiaries covered through such camps; (d) the number of persons with biometric exceptions including elderly persons and persons with disabilities, who have been issued Aadhaar numbers in Dharmapuri district; and (e) whether any additional measures are being taken to expand Aadhaar enrolment facilities in remote and underserved areas of the said district? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (e): Aadhaar is the world's largest biometric identity system maintained by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) with approximately 134 crore live Aadhaar holders. It has completed more than 17,000 crore authentication transactions. Aadhar in state of Tamil Nadu: There are 4833 Aadhaar centres operating in the State of Tamil Nadu which are providing Aadhaar related services to the public. 102 Aadhaar centres operate in Dharmapuri district. 28 handheld devices have been deployed through India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).During the last three years (2023–2025), a total of 70,626 Aadhaar enrolments and 9,51,631 Aadhaar updates have been carried out in Dharmapuri district. 216 Aadhaar enrolment camps have organised in the rural and tribal habitations of Dharmapuri district during last two years with around 4440 enrolments achieved. A total of 98 persons with disabilities have been issued Aadhaar numbers in Dharmapuri district during past two years, by holding Aadhaar camps, including cases categorized under Biometric Exception. Measures to strengthen access in remote areas: UIDAI has undertaken several steps to expand Aadhaar services, including: ● Establishment of 30 Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) in Tamil Nadu, including one in Dharmapuri ● Onboarding of the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department to enable Aadhaar services at the Panchayat level, including 251 Village Panchayats in Dharmapuri ● Organisation of targeted enrolment camps for vulnerable groups, including Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). ● Regular review through District Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee (DLAMC) meetings under District Collectors. These measures aim to ensure last-mile delivery, inclusion and accessibility of Aadhaar services, particularly in rural and underserved areas. *******
