ROOFTOP SOLAR CAPACITY IN UTTAR PRADESH

Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) the number of households covered under Pradhan Mantri-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
(PM-SGMBY) since its launch, State-wise including Uttar Pradesh;
(b) the rooftop solar capacity added under the PM-SGMBY in Uttar Pradesh;
(c) the details of implementation status of the PM-SGMBY in Uttar Pradesh, district-wise
including Bulandshahr; and
(d) the details of employment generated in manufacturing, installation and maintenance of
rooftop solar systems?

(a) The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY), launched in February 2024, is a
demand driven scheme wherein all residential consumers in the country having grid connected
electricity connection of the local DISCOM can avail the benefits of the scheme, for installation
of Rooftop Solar (RTS) systems, by applying on the National Portal of the scheme.
Under the scheme, since its launch in February 2024, a total of 31,12,850 households have been
benefitted with installation of RTS systems across the country, including in the state of Uttar
Pradesh, as on 06.03.2026. The State/UT-wise details are given at Annexure-I.
(b) Under the PMSG: MBY, a total of 1,362.53 MW RTS capacity has been added in the state
of Uttar Pradesh, as on 06.03.2026.
(c) Under the PMSG: MBY, a total of 3,99,096 RTS plants have been installed benefitting
4,03,698 households in the state of Uttar Pradesh, as on 06.03.2026. District-wise detail is
given at Annexure II.
(d) With the implementation of PMSG: MBY, it has been estimated that around 17 lakh jobs
will be created in manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, sales and installations, O&M services,
financial services, etc.
