Parliament Question: Routes under UDAN Scheme

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 6367 ( TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 2nd April 2026 ) ROUTES UNDER UDAN SCHEME 6367. SHRI BHUMARE SANDIPANRAO ASARAM Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether all the routes approved under the UDAN scheme have been operationalised so far in various States including Maharashtra; (b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of such routes on which flights have actually been operated from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Airport in Maharashtra; (c) the major constraints being faced in operationalisation of the remaining routes which are yet to become functional; and (d) the number of such routes in Maharashtra that have faced difficulties in becoming operational along with the number of routes still pending? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a): Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme - Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN), a total of 663 routes, including 111 RCS routes in the State of Maharashtra, have been operationalised across the country. (b): No RCS routes have been operationalised connecting Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) Airport till date. (c) & (d): A total of 18 RCS routes in Maharashtra are yet to commence operations. Out of these, 2 routes connecting Ratnagiri Airport are expected to commence upon readiness of the airport. The remaining 16 routes are likely to commence upon availability of aircraft with the respective airline operators. Non-operationalisation or delay in operationalisation of certain RCS routes is primarily due to factors such as non-readiness of airport infrastructure, delay in obtaining requisite regulatory approvals, poor visibility conditions, daytime runway restrictions at Visual Flight Rules (VFR)-only airports, shortage of aircraft, leasing-related issues, and operational and commercial considerations of airlines. ******
