Shri Biplab Kumar Deb: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) the number of schools upgraded and the new residential schools/hostels constructed in the country under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, State/UT-wise; (b) whether the scheme covers ICT and Digital initiatives including smart schools and smart classrooms; (c) if so, the total number of schools covered so far, State/UT-wise; and (d) the details of the number of schools that have been upgraded under the said Scheme in the State of Tripura? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a): This Department is implementing Samagra Shiksha Scheme since 2018-19. The Scheme has been aligned with the objectives of National Education Policy, 2020. The Scheme provides support to all the States/UTs (including the State of Tripura) for upgradation of schools and establishment of residential facilities under the interventions of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya (NSCBAVs), Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalays (KGBVs), PM JANMAN (started from 2023-24) and DAJGUA (started from 2024-25). Under the Scheme, annual plans are prepared by the respective State/UT as per their requirement and priorities. These annual plans are appraised and approved by the Project Approval Board in the Department in consultation with the respective State/UT, as per the programmatic and financial norms of the Scheme. The new/upgraded schools and the number of residential schools/hostels [upgraded KGBVs and approved NSCBAVs] under the Samagra Siksha Abhiyan, State/UT wise, is at Annexure I. State wise details of hostels sanctioned under PMJANMAN and DAJGUA, which are funded under Samagra Shiksha, is at Annexure II and III respectively. (b) and (c): ICT and Digital Initiatives component of Samagra Shiksha covers Government and Aided Schools having classes VI to XII. Under this component financial assistance is provided for establishing ICT Labs and Smart Classrooms in schools. The State/UT wise details of functional ICT Labs and Smart Classrooms is at Annexure IV.
