SAMARTH UDYOG BHARAT INITIATIVE
2713. SHRI ANURAG SHARMA:
Will the Minister of HEAVY INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) the details of progress made under the Samarth Udyog Bharat initiative for promoting Industry
4.0, smart manufacturing and advanced technologies in the manufacturing sector, along with the
number of industries benefited during the last three years;
(b) the details of Centres of Excellence, Smart Advanced Manufacturing and Rapid Transformation
Hubs (SMART) and other facilities established under the initiative, State/UT-wise;
(c) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised for implementation of the initiative during the
last three years, along with the extent of participation by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises
(MSMEs); and
(d) the details of steps taken by the Government to accelerate adoption of automation, artificial
intelligence, robotics, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), skill development and digital
manufacturing under the Samarth Udyog Bharat initiative to enhance global competitiveness of
Indian industry?

(a): Ministry of Heavy Industries under the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the
Indian Capital Goods Sector has set up 4 Smart Advanced Manufacturing and Rapid Transformation
Hub (SAMARTH) Centres to promote Industry 4.0. These SAMARTH centres have benefitted over
2700 Industries in terms of onsite demonstration and awareness activities with approximately 33000
professionals trained through more than 300 training programmes.
(b): State-wise distribution of projects sanctioned under the “Scheme for Enhancement of
Competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector- Phase-II” is as under:

(d): Ministry of Heavy Industries under the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the
Indian Capital Goods Sector has set up 4 Smart Advanced Manufacturing and Rapid Transformation
Hub (SAMARTH) Centres. These centres are aimed at creating skill development programs in the
field of Industry 4.0, Digital Manufacturing, Robotics & Autonomous system and Additive
Manufacturing. Further, Industry 4.0 Experience Centre and Industry 4.0-enabled Model Factory has
also been set up for demonstration of Smart Manufacturing technologies, enabling industries to
experience Industry 4.0 use cases and digital manufacturing solutions. MHI has also sanctioned
setting up of 10 cluster Industry 4.0 Experience Centres nationwide through Centre for Industry 4.0
(C4i4), Pune.
