SCHEMES TO ENHANCE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the new schemes launched by the Government to increase agricultural
production in the country during the last five years;
(b) whether the Government has recently approved any such scheme for
implementation in the country;
(c) if so, the details thereof, State-wise including Bihar; and
(d) the details of potential benefits provided to farmers due to the implementation of the
abovesaid schemes, State-wise including Bihar?

(a): The Government of India is implementing a comprehensive range of Central
Sector and Centrally Sponsored Schemes and programmes aimed at increasing
agricultural production across all States, including Bihar are placed at Annexure I.
Major schemes launched and implemented during the last five years are placed at
Annexure II.
(b) to (d): The Government has recently approved and launched Pradhan Mantri
Dhan‑Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses
on 11th October, 2025. PM-DDKY targets 100 districts including 7 districts in Bihar
(Madhubani, Darbhanga, Banka, Gaya, Siwan, Kishanganj and Nawada).
PM-DDKY aims at enhancing production and productivity in agriculture and allied
sector in targeted 100 districts in the country including 7 districts of Bihar. It converges 36
central schemes of 11 departments, State schemes and private partnerships target
improving productivity in DDKY districts.
To achieve self-sufficiency in pulses, the Government of India has launched the
Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, aimed at strengthening domestic production and
reducing dependence on imports while ensuring nutritional security.
With a financial outlay of ₹11,440 crore over a six-year period, the mission places
a special emphasis on the cultivation of Tur (Arhar), Urad, and Masoor. The programme
seeks to increase pulses production to 350 lakh tonnes, expand the cultivation area by It
35 lakh hectares-particularly in rice fallows and intercropping systems- to reach about 310
lakh hectares, and enhance productivity to 1,130 Kg per hectare through improved seed
availability, better agronomic practices and strengthened extension support.
Rs. 483.625 Cr (Central Share) was allocated to States & UTs for implementation
of Pulses Mission during Rabi 2025-26. Further, Rs. 51.76 Cr (Central Share) was
allocated to Bihar for implementation of Pulses Mission during Rabi 2025-26.ANNEXURE I
