SHRI AMRA RAM: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) whether the Union Government has entered into any agreement with the State Governments of Rajasthan and Haryana regarding Rajasthan’s share of Yamuna river water, if so, the details thereof; (b) the quantity of Yamuna river water being received by Rajasthan as on date and the share of water that was due prior to the agreement and the quantity Rajasthan would receive out of it under the said agreement; (c) whether the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project has been prepared, if so, the details thereof and if not, the time by which it is likely to be prepared; and (d) the time-frame fixed for the commencement and completion of the said project? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF JAL SHAKTI (SHRI C R PAATIL) (a) to (d) : A statement is laid on the Table of the House. 1STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. *19 TO BE ANSWERED ON 29.01.2026 IN LOK SABHA REGARDING “SHARING OF YAMUNA RIVER WATER” (a) to (d) A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Haryana and Rajasthan for preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) jointly by the Governments of Haryana and Rajasthan for project for transfer of Yamuna water from Hathnikund to Churu, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and other Districts of Rajasthan through underground pipelines. As per decision taken by Upper Yamuna River Board (UYRB), a total amount of 577 Million Cubic Meter (MCM) of Yamuna water is allocated to Rajasthan during July to October from Hathnikund Barrage. No water is allocated to Rajasthan from Hathnikund Barrage during the period November to June. As per the above MoU, the Phase-1 of the proposed project envisages transfer of water through underground pipelines during July to October upto 577 MCM for drinking water supply and other requirements for Churu, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and other Districts of Rajasthan after utilisation of full capacity (24,000 cusec) of Western Yamuna Canal by Haryana including Delhi share at Hathnikund Barrage. Both States have formed Task Forces for the preparation of DPR. Rajasthan has hired a consultant for preparation of DPR vide work order dated 25.07.2025. As per work order, the Consultant has to prepare the DPR within a period of six months. ***** 2
