ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH
(SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV)
(a) & (b) Public Health being a State subject, the primary responsibility to ensure availability
of Ayush doctors, pharmacists and adequate dispensary infrastructure as well as maintenance
of data on sanctioned strength, vacancy position, medicine supply gaps and outreach camps
in Erode district of Tamil Nadu, including Sathyamangalam, Anthiyur and Thalavadi lies
with the respective State Government. As reported by State Government of Tamil Nadu, the
sanctioned posts of Ayush doctors and pharmacists are being filled as per Government norms
and vacancies in regular posts are addressed through timely recruitment and redeployment to
ensure uninterrupted Ayush services. State Government also informed that upgradation work
related to infrastructure of Ayush dispensaries are undertaken as per approved provisions of
1the State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National
Ayush Mission (NAM) based on local need-based requirements.
Further, State Government informed that uninterrupted supply of quality medicines to
Ayush institutions is ensured in Erode District on a quarterly basis by procuring medicines
from Tamil Nadu Medical Plant Farms and Herbal Medicine Corporation Limited
(TAMPCOL), Chennai, a manufacturing unit under Tamil Nadu Government and no major
gaps in medicine supply have been reported. State Government also reported that Ayush
outreach and health awareness camps are being conducted regularly in Erode District
including tribal and hilly areas such as Sathyamangalam and Thalavadi, to enhance
access/awareness on Ayush services and promote preventive healthcare.
(c) The State Government has taken initiatives to further strength Ayush Wellness Centres,
outreach services and drug supply systems in Erode district through upgradation of existing
Ayush wings, deployment of manpower as per norms, conduct of regular outreach and
mobile health activities in remote areas, and continued assured medicine supply through
TAMPCOL under NAM and State Government programmes.
