GIRIRAJAN: Will the Minister of Coal be pleased to state: (a) whether the Central Government has received any request from Government of Tamil Nadu regarding the shortage of coal supply and its timely delivery from PSUs like Coal India Ltd, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd and if so, the details thereof and Government's action in this regard; (b) the details of the quantity and value (in INR) of coal supplied to various industries both public sector and private sectors in the State of Tamil Nadu; and (c) the details of the quantity and value (in INR) of coal supplied to thermal power stations in the State during the last five years, year-wise, power plant-wise? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR COAL AND MINES (SHRI SATISH CHANDRA DUBEY) (a): Supply of coal to the power plants including the power plants of Tamil Nadu is a continuous process. Requests are received from various States, including Tamil Nadu, regarding coal supplies. Coal supply is continuously monitored by the coal companies, power companies and by an Inter-Ministerial Sub-Group comprising of representatives from Ministry of Power, Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Railways, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) which meets regularly to take various operational decisions to enhance supply of coal to Thermal Power Plants. The meetings of the Sub-Group Committee are attended by the representatives of the power plants. Based on the requirement and the coal stock position, allocation of rakes is recommended by the Sub-Group. The Sub-Group closely monitors rake allocation and movement to maintain supply continuity. Logistical interventions by coal companies and the Sub-Group, undertaken in collaboration with Railways, ensure allocation of sufficient railway rakes to the power plants, as well as faster coal movement from coal mines to its power plants, thereby reducing transit delays & ensuring steady plant operations. Besides, an Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) has also been constituted comprising of Chairman, Railway Board; Secretary, Ministry of Coal; Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Secretary, Ministry of Power; to monitor augmentation of coal supply and power generation capacity. Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Chairperson, CEA are co-opted as Special Invitees as and when required by the IMC. (b): The details of the coal quantity [in Million Tonnes (MT)] and value (in ₹ Crore) of coal supplied by CIL and SCCL to the industries both Public sector and Private sector in the State of Tamil Nadu for the year 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 & 2025-26 (till February, 2026) is as under: 1Provisional FY 2025-26 FY 2021-22 FY 2022-23 FY 2023-24 FY 2024-25 (Till February, 2026) Coal Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill Company Bill Bill Bill Bill Quantity Quantity Quantity Quantity Quantity / Value / Value / Value / Value / Bill Value / / Coal / Coal / Coal / Coal Coal Value Value Value Value Value (₹ Cr) Supplied Supplied Supplied Supplied Supplied (₹ Cr) (₹ Cr) (₹ Cr) (₹ Cr) (in MT) (in MT) (in MT) (in MT) (in MT) CIL 22.599 4169.89 26.688 4692.46 25.551 4458.25 25.527 4727.92 21.045 3651.88 SCCL 3.45 1089.75 1.98 858.07 2.798 1477.21 574.61 2.851 1832.45 0.806 (c): The year-wise, power plant-wise details of the coal quantity (in MT) supplied to the thermal power plants in the State of Tamil Nadu and values in (in ₹ Crore) for the year 2021-22, 2022- 23, 2023-24, 2024-25 & 2025-26 (till February, 2026) is as under: Coal Supplies by CIL (Provisional) FY 2025-26 FY 2021-22 FY 2022-23 FY 2023-24 FY 2024-25 (Till February, 2026) Sl.
