Shortage of Fertilizers in Uttar Pradesh
1022: SHRI CHANDAN CHAUHAN:
Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware of the fact that farmers are facing many
problems due to shortage of fertilizer NPK 10-26-26 formula in Uttar Pradesh
and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the quantum of DAP and NPK fertilizers in metric tonnes approved by the Union
Government against the demand made by the State to ensure adequate supply
of fertilizers in the State; and
(c) the quantity of fertilizers in metric tonne allocated to various companies by the
Union Government during the period from April 2024 till date?
ANSWER

(a) Before the commencement of each cropping season, Department of Agriculture
and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) assesses the State-wise & month-wise requirement
of fertilizers. To fulfill this requirement of fertilizers in the States as per assessment
done by DA&FW, D/o Fertilizers allocates adequate quantities of fertilizers to States
by issuing monthly supply plans. Further, DA&FW provides the overall requirement of
NPKS fertilizers to D/o Fertilizers. However, grade-wise supply of NPKS fertilizers is
done by the fertilizer companies as per the request of the State Governments. The
availability of NPKS fertilizers in the State of Uttar Pradesh has remained adequate
during the ongoing Kharif 2025 season. From 01.04.2025 to 21.07.2025, 4,49, 000
Metric Tons of NPKS has been made available in the State against the pro-rata
requirement of 2,28,000 Metric Tons and the State currently holds closing stock of
2,76,000 Metric Tons of NPKS.
(b) 10,00,000 Metric Tons of DAP and 5,00,000 Metric Tons of NPK fertilizers
have been approved by the Union Government for the State of Uttar Pradesh for the
ongoing Kharif 2025 season.
(c) The company & product wise supply plan of fertilizers i.e. Urea, DAP, MOP and
NPKS from April 2024 to till dated i.e. July 2025 is placed at Annexure.
