be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has taken any steps to address the problems of sodic land, waterlogging and soil erosion in Sultanpur district;

(b) if so, the details of the schemes implemented to increase productivity and support small and marginal farmers;

(c)whether the Government proposes to expand schemes such as organic farming, Seed Village Scheme, water conservation and crop residue management in the said district; and

(d) the details of the assistance being provided to encourage allied activities such as dairy, poultry, goat rearing and fisheries in Sultanpur district? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ िष एवं िकसान क(cid:670)ाण रा(cid:475) मं(cid:361)ी (SHRI RAMNATH THAKUR)

(a) & (b): As per information received from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, steps have been taken to address the problems of sodic land, waterlogging and soil erosion in Sultanpur district. To control soil erosion and increase productivity, under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kisan Samridhi Yojana, bunding and check dam construction, along with land levelling, are carried out on the fields of small and marginal farmers of the district. In the following year, crop production activities are undertaken by the Agriculture Department on the same fields to support these farmers and enhance productivity.

(c) & (d): As per information received from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Organic Farming and the Seed Village Scheme are not implemented in Sultanpur district. Under Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) component of the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) micro-irrigation is promoted in the country including Sultanpur district and an area of 7615 ha has been covered since 2015-16 in the district. Further, under the Central Sector Scheme on Crop Residue Management, being implemented in Uttar Pradesh including Sultanpur District. Under the scheme, financial assistance @ 50% is provided to farmers and @ 80% to Rural Entrepreneurs/ Cooperative Societies/ FPOs for crop residue management machinery and Custom Hiring Centres. Rs. 911.03 crore has been released to Uttar Pradesh under the scheme since 2018-19.

The Government is taking up various activities for holistic development of allied agricultural sectors such as dairy, poultry, goat rearing and fisheries in the country including Uttar Pradesh through Centrally Sponsored/ Sector Schemes. The schemes are implemented by State Governments as per the development planning in different districts.

As per information received from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the details of

assistance provided in the Sultanpur district to encourage allied activities is as follows:

(i) Dairy: State Government under the Swadeshi Gau Samvardhan Yojana, farmers/ animal husbandry practitioners are encouraged to purchase 2 milch animals to increasemilk production, with a subsidy / assistance of upto 40%. Further, under the Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana and Mini Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, farmers are encouraged to purchase 25 and 10 milch animals respectively to increase milk production, with provision of subsidy assistance @ 50%. Formation of dairy cooperative societies and infrastructure support such as furniture, milk testing equipment, cattle feed, mineral mixture, data processing and Dairy Processing & Collection Milk Units (D.P.C.M.U.) and training to milk producers for clean milk production are also taken up Dairy Development Department of State Government.

(ii) Poultry, Goat Rearing and Sheep Rearing: To support economically weaker sections, the Department provides 50 chicks, along with feed, medicine and shelter arrangements, worth Rs. 425, free of cost to women beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Caste category in the district. Beneficiaries from economically weaker sections are also

provided assistance for purchase of 5 goats and 1 buckling (male goat), with free insurance and medicine. Assistance is also provided for purchase of 20 sheep and 1 ram, with free insurance and medicine for beneficiaries from economically weaker sections.

(iii) Fisheries: Fisheries development activities are supported under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) of Department of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in the country including Sultanpur District. Under the scheme, 306 beneficiaries have been assisted with subsidy amounting Rs. 258.69 lakh for fisheries development activities such as Backyard RAS, Biofloc Ponds, Pond Construction, Small & Medium RAS units, Small & Medium Feed Mills and transport support through Cycle/Motorcycle/Three- Wheeler with Ice Box.
