Parliament Question: Solar and wind energy in Rajasthan

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 466 ANSWERED ON 03.02.2026 SOLAR AND WIND ENERGY IN RAJASTHAN 466. SHRI MADAN RATHORE Will the Minister of New and Renewable Energy be pleased to state: (a) whether Government considers the State of Rajasthan to be a major State with immense potential for solar and wind energy; (b) the details of the approved solar parks, rooftop solar and renewable energy projects in the State, district-wise; (c) whether the projects are being affected by issues of land availability and grid connectivity; (d) the steps taken to promote solar pumps and renewable energy for farmers; and (e) the targets set for renewable energy production in Rajasthan for the next five years? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) As per the Solar PV potential assessment conducted by National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), the estimated solar energy potential in the State of Rajasthan is 828 GW and as per the wind resource assessment conducted by National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), the estimated wind energy potential in the State is 284 GW at 150 meter above ground level. (b) District-wise details of approved solar parks in Rajasthan under the Ministry’s Scheme for Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects are given at Annexure-I. District- wise number of applications submitted on the National Portal of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana for installation of rooftop solar in the State as on 28.01.2026 are given at Annexure-II. Further, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd. (RRECL) has also provided details of registered renewable energy projects in the State, which are given at Annexure-III. (c) Some projects are impacted by land availability issues and grid connectivity issues. (d) The Government has been implementing PM Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (PM KUSUM) to provide financial support to the farmers for installation of standalone solar pumps and solarization of existing grid-connected agriculture pumps (including Feeder Level Solarization), and to provide the farmers an opportunity to become solar entrepreneurs by installing solar power plants on their land.
