SOLAR CAPACITY UNDER PM-KUSUM

Will the minister of new and renewable energy be pleased to state:
(a) the solar capacity achieved under Pradhan Mantri-Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan
Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) vis a vis the target of 35 GW;
(b) the achievements made under Grid connected solar power plants and grid connected solar
pumps and the reasons for low achievements along with the measures being taken by the
Government to improve the situation;
(c) whether there is any proposal under consideration to include solar pumps with capacities
above 7.5 HP under the PM-KUSUM and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons
therefor; and
(d) the achievements under grid connected solar power plants and grid connected solar pumps
in the State of Haryana along with the set targets?

(a) The Government has launched PM-KUSUM scheme in March 2019, which has been scaled-up in
January 2024 and aims to add capacity of 34.8 GW. As on 28.02.2026, as reported by state
implementing agencies (SIAs), a total of 12.164 GW capacity has been installed under the scheme.
(b) PM KUSUM progress under Grid connected solar power plants and grid connected solar pumps,
as on 28.02.2026 is as follows:

Despite initial setbacks due to COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain disruptions, the scheme has
picked up as the Ministry has taken proactive steps and issued simplified and comprehensive revised
guidelines in January 2024. Currently all the targets are fully subscribed. With the gestation period of
18 months from the date of LOA, it is expected that most of the capacities will come in year 2026.
(c) Installation/ solarization of agriculture pumps of capacity higher than 7.5 HP is allowed under
Component-B and Component C(IPS) of PM KUSUM scheme. However, the Central Financial
Assistance (CFA) is limited to the CFA applicable for pumps of 7.5 HP. Besides, in North-Eastern
region (NER); Hilly region (Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh) and
Islands (Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep), the CFA is available for pump capacity up to 15 HP,
however the CFA for pumps up to 15 HP is restricted to 10% of total installations.
(d) The progress under Grid connected solar power plants and grid connected solar pumps, in the state
of Haryana, as on 28.02.2026 is as follows:
