GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2869 ANSWERED ON 05.08.2026 SOLAR ENERGY POTENTIAL OF MADHYA PRADESH 2869. SHRI VISHNU DATT SHARMA Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has assessed the solar energy potential of the Khajuraho Lok Sabha Constituency comprising Katni, Panna and Khajuraho town for setting up a Solar Park, Ultra Mega Solar Power Project or Regional Solar Energy Hub under various renewable energy schemes and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the Government has examined establishing a Regional Renewable Energy Skill and Solar Technology Centre under the Suryamitra initiatve or other renewable energy skill development programmes to train local youth for employment and entrepreneurship in the renewable energy sector; (c) if so, the details of central financial assistance and incentives available for such projects; and (d) whether any proposal is under consideration for the said constituency and if so, the details and expected timeline thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) As per the “Solar PV Potential of India – Ground Mounted” report published by National Institute of Solar Energy, the estimated ground-mounted solar potential of Katni, Panna and Chhatarpur districts, where the Khajuraho Lok Sabha Constituency lies, is estimated to be around 11,319 MW. The Government has sanctioned one solar park of 630 MW capacity in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. (b) The Government is implementing skill development programmes in the renewable energy sector under various schemes such as Human Resource Development scheme, PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana and National Green Hydrogen Mission. The skill development programmes are being implemented to equip youth with skills in solar, wind and bio energy through autonomous research institutions namely National Institute of Solar Energy, National Institute of Wind Energy, National Institute of Bio Energy, IIT Roorkee, Directorate General of Training, National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, Skill Council of Green Jobs, TATA Power Skill Development Institute and various sector skill councils. The implementing agencies are executing these programmes through empanelled training centers located throughout the country. To impart training to local youth in the renewable energy sector, 127 training centres are currently available on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) Portal in the State of MadhyaPradesh. This includes 72 training centres for imparting training under the Suryamitra programme. The Suryamitra and other skill development Programmes of the Government does not have provision for establishment of skill development training centres. (c) The expenditure on skill development programmes in the Renewable Energy sector is borne by the Government in accordance with the applicable guidelines prescribed by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). In addition to this, an incentive of Rs. 500 per day per trainee is provided for the Solar PV Helper training programme under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and an incentive of Rs. 1,000 per trainee is provided to women candidates enrolled in the Small Hydro Power Technician – Jal Urja Mitra training programme. (d) No proposal is under consideration for establishment of Renewable Energy Skill and Solar Technology Centre in Khajuraho Lok Sabha Constituency, in this Ministry. *****
