Parliament Question: Solarisation of Agriculture Feeders under PM-KUSUM

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3911 ANSWERED ON 12.08.2026 SOLARISATION OF AGRICULTURE FEEDERS UNDER PM-KUSUM 3911. SHRI DILESHWAR KAMAIT Will the minister of new and renewable energy be pleased to state: (a) the total number of agricultural feeders solarised under Component-C Feeder Level Solarisation (FLS) of Pradhan Mantri-Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PMKUSUM) as of February, 2026 and the resultant increase in the average hours of daytime power supply available to farmers; (b) the details of status of the transition to PM-KUSUM 2.0 specifically the proposed 45 percent increase in funding to incorporate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for night- time irrigation support; and (c) the progress in achieving the target of 34.8 GW of decentralised solar capacity and the measures taken by the Government to address the low uptake in States with high technical losses, State-wise? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) PM-KUSUM a demand-driven scheme and the capacities are allocated based on proposals received from States/UTs and their implementation progress. As reported by the State Implementing Agencies, total of 14,39,415 agriculture pumps are solarized through installation of 7261 MW across agriculture feeders till February 2026. Due to the implementation of FLS, the states have reported shifting of their night time supply to day time power supply from 7 to 8 hrs to farmers. As reported by Ministry of Power, total of 5,655 feeders were solarized till Feb 2026. (b) The Expenditure Finance Committee for PM KUSUM 2.0 was held on 21.04.2026. (c) The state wise progress under PM KUSUM is placed at Annexure I. The Ministry has simplified the procedures and issued comprehensive revised guidelines on 17.01.2024 for ease of implementation of the scheme. To increase the reach of PM KUSUM scheme, extensive outreach and capacity-building workshops are conducted by the Ministry from time to time.
