Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state:
(a) the number of inspectors deployed in the Daman Pollution Control Committee for
monitoring pharmaceutical industries in Daman;
(b) the number of surprise inspection conducted so far;
(c) whether a special Environment Task Force has been constituted for the Daman region;
(d) the amount of environment compensation recovered so far; and
(e) whether the Government proposes to introduce a "Green Compliance Linked Incentive"
policy in the future?

(a) to (d) : Daman Pollution Control Committee has deployed team of 11 technical officers for
enforcing environmental compliance in industries, including the pharmaceutical industry
located in UT of Dadra Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu. A total of 20 inspections were carried
out in last year for pharmaceutical industries in the Daman District. In FY 2024–25,
environmental compensation of ₹27,54,500/- has been imposed on various industries.
(e): Central Pollution Control Board has introduced a ‘Star’ category system for industries
which have demonstrated successful better environmental performance by reducing Pollution
Index (PI) and proven reduction in trade effluent generation or air pollution management or
waste management measures. Industries achieving ‘Star’ category are reclassified into a lower
Category and incentivised with less environmental surveillance/compliance burden. Details of
frequency of inspections reduced for ‘Star’ category industry, are given below:
