“Standardisation of AYUSH Education”

Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state:
(a) the status of the Global Repository of Traditional Medicine being developed in
collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO); and
(b) the measures taken by the Government for the standardization of AYUSH education to
meet international standards and facilitate the global mobility of Indian AYUSH
professionals?

(a) The World Health Organization (WHO) has established the world’s most comprehensive
digital knowledge repository for traditional, complementary and integrative medicine, namely
the Traditional Medicine Global Library (TMGL). The initiative is primarily led by WHO as
a global effort to consolidate and disseminate evidence-based information in this domain.
The TMGL was formally launched during the Second WHO Global Summit on Traditional
Medicine held in December 2025 in New Delhi, India. The platform is envisaged to serve as
a key resource for promoting global knowledge exchange, fostering standardization, and
enhancing the credibility and acceptance of traditional medicine systems worldwide.
Ministry of Ayush has been extending its support and engaging with WHO in the context of
this initiative. Further development and operationalization of the repository are being carried
out by WHO in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
(b) Ministry of Ayush is implementing the central sector scheme for Promotion of
International Cooperation for Ayush (IC Scheme). Under this scheme the Ministry provides
support to Indian Ayush drug Manufacturers/ Ayush Service providers to give boost to the
export of Ayush products and services; facilitates the International promotion, development
and recognition of Ayush systems of medicine; foster interaction of stakeholders and marketdevelopment of Ayush at international level; promote academics and research through the
establishment of Ayush Academic Chairs in foreign countries and holding training
workshop/symposiums for promoting and strengthening awareness and interest about Ayush
Systems of Medicine at international level.
Ministry of Ayush has signed 27 Country-to-Country MoUs, 16 Ayush Chair MoUs and 54
Institute-to-Institute level MoUs for promotion/collaboration in Ayush systems of medicine
globally and offers scholarships on 104 slots to foreign nationals for studying Ayush courses
in recognized Ayush institutions in India under International Ayush Fellowship/Scholarship
Programme.
