Status of Ayush services in erode district of Tamil Nadu
327 Shri Anthiyur P. Selvarasu:
Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government has assessed the demand for Siddha, Ayurveda and Yoga services in
erode district in the State of Tamil Nadu, including Erode city, Bhavani and
Gobichettipalayam;
(b) if so, the details of Government plan for upgrading Ayush wings, diagnostic support, staff
training and patient awareness drives in Erode district; and
(c) the steps proposed to be taken by Government to improve referral linkage with Primary
Health Centers (PHCs) and regular follow-up mechanisms in the said district?
ANSWER

(a) & (b) Yes, the demand for Siddha, Ayurveda and Yoga services in Erode District,
including Erode City, Bhavani and Gobichettipalayam, has been assessed by the State
Government, as reported and addressed under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National
Ayush Mission (NAM), being implemented by the Government of India with support of State
Government. Accordingly, a Co-located ISM Wing at Nambiyur (near Gobichettipalayam)
has been upgraded at a cost of Rs. 23.30 lakh, covering civil works, equipment, furniture and
medicines. Further, Yoga services under Ayush Public Health Program of Integration of
Ayush with National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes,
Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) have been established at Bhavani, and
Siddha services under NPCDCS at Erode. In addition, Ayush wings providing Siddha, Yoga
and Homoeopathy services are functioning at the District Headquarters Hospital, Erode, with
a grant-in-aid of Rs. 25.00 lakh. The State Government has taken steps for strengthening
Ayush services in Erode District through upgradation of Ayush wings, capacity building of
staff and patient awareness activities under the NAM. Under the State Annual Action Plan
(SAAP) 2025–26, upgradation of Co-located Ayush Wings at 11 locations in Erode District
has been proposed, covering infrastructure strengthening, equipment, medicines and
diagnostic support.
1With regard to staff training, Siddha Varma Training was conducted in Erode District on
14.11.2025. In addition, training programmes for Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Homoeopathy
and Ayurveda systems have also been completed recently to enhance service delivery and
clinical skills of Ayush personnel. Regarding patient awareness, Ayush awareness
programmes are being conducted twice every month in Erode District and block-wise
awareness activities are also being regularly organized to promote Ayush systems and healthy
lifestyle practices among the public.
(c) As reported by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, Ayush services are provided
through co-located Ayush wings in Primary Health Centres (PHCs), enabling coordination
between Ayush and Allopathy systems. At present, patients requiring higher-level care are
referred by Ayush doctors to Allopathy facilities as per clinical need and follow-up of
referred cases is undertaken as per existing clinical practice.
