ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SKILL
DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
(SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY)
(a) The Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the Ministry of Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship (MSDE), implements the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) through a network
of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) for skilling the youth. Under CTS, training is imparted in 169
courses through 14,688 ITIs (Government - 3,345 & Private - 11,343) across the country.
In the State of Telangana, training under the CTS is imparted through 301 ITIs, comprising 69
Government ITIs and 232 Private ITIs. In the Warangal Lok Sabha Constituency, 30 ITIs are
functioning, including 03 Government ITIs and 27 Private ITIs.
During the last three years, i.e., from 2022-23 to 2024-25, and the current session 2025-26, under
CTS, a total of 1,30,094 trainees have been enrolled in Telangana State, including 11,754 trainees
in the Warangal Lok Sabha Constituency.
The district-wise number of ITIs, the number of CTS trades offered, and enrolment in ITIs during
the last three years, i.e., from 2022-23 to 2024-25, and the current session 2025-26, is available at
Annexure-1.
National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) impart training under the Craft Instructor Training Scheme
(CITS) with the objective of equipping instructor trainees with comprehensive hands-on skills and
training methodology, thereby enabling them to effectively train skilled manpower for industry. In the State of Telangana, three NSTIs are functioning, all located in Hyderabad district, namely
NSTI (Women) Hyderabad, NSTI-Ramanthapur and NSTI-Vidyanagar. Under CITS, 17 courses
are being conducted across these three NSTIs in Telangana. During the period from 2022-23 to
2025-26, 1,687 trainees have been enrolled in these NSTIs.
(b) The trade curriculum is updated periodically in consultation with industry, academia, and
State/UT Governments to integrate emerging technologies, modern tools & equipment, and
machinery. In addition, the DGT has introduced 31 New Age trades covering emerging areas such
as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Renewable Energy and 3D Printing. The List of these
New Age Trades is placed at Annexure-2. In Warangal Lok Sabha Constituency, 07 New Age
trades are currently being offered in 04 ITIs.
Further, the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) Scheme
is launched to enhance the overall quality and relevance of vocational training with upgraded labs,
machines, and industry-aligned curriculum in the country. The scheme includes upgradation of
1,000 Government ITIs (200 Hub ITIs and 800 Spoke ITIs) in a Hub and Spoke model wherein
upgradation includes smart classrooms, modern labs, digital content, and new courses aligned to
industry needs through industry-led Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). The selection of ITIs under
the PM-SETU Scheme is led by the respective State/UT Governments in consultation with industry,
ensuring alignment with emerging skill needs and local industrial potential.
(c) The DGT has partnered with various industries, including Autodesk India Pvt. Ltd., to
deliver training in new-age technical and professional skills through self-paced and mentor-led
courses for trainees of ITIs and NSTIs across the country.
The partnership with Autodesk India focuses on curriculum enhancement and strengthening
instructional capacity through faculty development programmes for trainers, enabling adoption of
modern tools and digital workflows relevant to sectors such as manufacturing, design, architectural
engineering and related areas. In this regard, Faculty Development Programmes are being
conducted for trainers across the country, including Telangana.
(d) The district-wise number of ITI passout candidates engaged as apprentices under the
Apprenticeship Training during the last three years, i.e., from 2022-23 to 2024-25, and the current
session 2025-26, is available at Annexure-3.
The establishment of Government ITIs falls within the jurisdiction of the respective State
Governments and UT Administrations. Proposals received in this regard are examined and
processed in accordance with the procedures and timelines prescribed under the affiliation norms.
As on date, there is no proposal to establish a new ITI/NSTI in the Warangal constituency.Annexure 1
