STATUS OF JAL JEEVAN MISSION IN KARNATAKA
*5. SHRI GOVIND MAKTHAPPA KARJOL:
Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) the details of rural households covered under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Karnataka
during the last five years, district-wise, especially in Chitradurga Lok Sabha Constituency;
(b) the details of the funds allocated, sanctioned and released for implementation of JJM in
Karnataka during the said period, district-wise;
(c) whether the Government has received any complaints regarding delay or irregularities in
the implementation of JJM in Karnataka;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon; and
(e) the details of the outstanding dues owed to Karnataka under JJM along with the period for
which such dues have been pending and the time by which these funds are likely to be released
to Karnataka?

(a) Since August 2019, Government of India in partnership with States, including Karnataka,
is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Har Ghar Jal to make provision of potable water
to every rural household of the country through functional tap water connection. The details of
district-wise rural households covered under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Karnataka
including the districts of Chitradurga Lok Sabha Constituency is at Annexure.
(b) Under JJM, this Department releases funds to States/UTs only. Further, district-wise fund
allocations are made and maintained by State/UTs only and not by this Department. The details
of funds allocated, sanctioned, and released during the last five years for the implementation
of JJM in Karnataka are as under:

(c) & (d) Since, Water being a State subject, as reported by the State Government of Karnataka
169 number of complaints / irregularities have been received. The State Govt. of Karnataka has
been requested to take all necessary action in respect of all complaints/irregularities.
(e) At the time of the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission, the Government had approved support for
the States and UTs with a central outlay of ₹2,08,652 Crore. The approved Central outlay has
almost been utilized till 2024-25. Further, Hon’ble Finance Minister has announced extension
of Jal Jeevan Mission till December 2028 with enhanced total outlay through budget
announcements 2025-26.
