Status of National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS)

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the current status of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), including the
total number of apprentices enrolled and completed under the scheme since inception, year-
wise and State-wise, especially in Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the number of establishments/industries participating in NATS, State-wise and sector-
wise;
(c) the number of apprentices currently undergoing training, including details of trade/sector-
wise, gender-wise and State/UT-wise distribution;
(d) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised for NATS during the last five years,
along with reasons for any shortfall in expenditure;
(e) whether any shortfalls or gaps have been observed in implementation, such as inadequate
industry participation, limited training capacity or delays in stipend disbursal and the steps
taken to address them, if so, the details thereof; and
(f) the key learnings and challenges identified from implementation of NATS and the steps
being considered to scale up the scheme, improve placement outcomes and enhance industry
participation nationally?

(a) to (f): The year-wise and State/UT-wise details of apprentices enrolled and completed
under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) during the last five years (FY
2021-22 to FY 2025-26), including Andhra Pradesh, are given at Annexure-I.
Currently (as on 13th July 2026) approximately 3,28,347 apprentices are undergoing
apprenticeship training under the Scheme. Out of these, 2,02,598 are male, 1,25,744 are
female and 5 are transgender apprentices.
At present, 17,625 establishments are registered under NATS across the States/UTs of the
country in various sector (Annexure II). Apprentices are undergoing training in
establishments across a wide range of trades/sectors. The major sectors includes IT/ITES,Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI), Automobile & Auto Components,
Electrical & Electronics, Healthcare, Pharma, telecom and others.
The details of funds allocated and released under NATS during the last five years are given at
Annexure-III.
To further strengthen the implementation of the Scheme, efforts have been made to enhance
awareness, expand industry participation and strengthen collaboration among Higher
Educational Institutions (HEIs), industries and State Governments. In this regard, the Boards
of Apprenticeship Training/Practical Training (BoATs/BoPT) are collaborating with
stakeholders to organise apprenticeship-cum-job fairs, career guidance programmes, industry-
institute interaction meetings etc. to encourage greater participation of industries and eligible
youth.
