STATUS OF PMKVY AND SDS IN MAHARASHTRA

Will the Minister of SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP be pleased to
state:
(a) the number of sanctioned and functional training centres established under the Pradhan
Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and other Skill Development Schemes (SDS) and the
current-year in Dharashiv, Solapur and Latur districts of Maharashtra during the last three years;
(b) the number of youths trained in the said districts and the number of youth obtained
employment or started self-employment;
(c) the number of beneficiaries received loans/grants under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana
and Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Srijan Karyakram to promote entrepreneurship in the said district;
and
(d) whether the Government proposes to establish special skill training centres or start new
trades in these districts keeping in view their industrial potential?

(a) & (b): Under Skill India Mission (SIM), the Ministry of Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship (MSDE) delivers skill, re-skill and up-skill training through an extensive network
of skill development centres under various schemes, viz. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana
(PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)
and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), to all the
sections of the society across the country, including women in rural areas. SIM aims at enabling
youth of India to get future ready and equipped with industry relevant skills.
The schemes of MSDE are demand driven and training centres under these schemes are set up
or engaged on need basis. Details of the training centres engaged under the schemes of MSDE
in Maharashtra and its Dharashiv, Solapur and Latur districts are as under:

Details of the candidates trained under various schemes of MSDE in Maharashtra and its

Amongst the schemes of MSDE, placements were tracked under the Short-Term Training
component of PMKVY in the first three versions (PMKVY1.0, PMKVY 2.0 and PMKVY 3.0)
implemented from 2015-16 to 2021-22. Under PMKVY (1.0, 2.0, and 3.0), 80,950 candidates
were reported placed in Maharashtra (including 1056, 1721 and 3774 candidates reported placed
in Dharashiv, Solapur and Latur districts respectively). Under PMKVY 4.0, the focus is on
empowering our trained candidates to choose their varied career path and they are suitably
oriented for the same through industry-relevant skill courses.
(c): Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) was launched on 08th April 2015 to provide
collateral free institutional credit to any individual, who is otherwise eligible to take a loan and has
a business plan for small business enterprise. Loan up to Rs. 20 lakh can be availed under the
Scheme for income generating activities in the manufacturing, trading, services, and the activities
allied to agriculture sector. The details of loans extended under PMMY in Dharashiv, Solapur and
Latur districts of Maharashtra during the last three years (2022-23 to 2024-25) are as under:

Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Srijan Karyakram)
of Ministry of MSME aims at assisting prospective entrepreneurs by Margin Money Subsidy for
setting up new micro enterprises in the non-farm sector. Details of number of micro enterprises
assisted and the Margin Money Subsidy disbursed under the scheme in Dharashiv, Solapur and
Latur districts of Maharashtra during the last three years (2022-23 to 2024-25) are as under :

(d): To enhance the overall quality and relevance of vocational training ecosystem in the country
including Maharashtra and its various districts, Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability
Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM SETU) scheme inter-alia aims to upgrade 1,000
Government ITIs (200 Hub ITIs and 800 Spoke ITIs) in a Hub and Spoke model wherein
upgradation includes smart classrooms, modern labs, digital content, and new courses aligned to
industry needs. Also, it aims to augment capacity of five NSTIs located in Bhubaneswar, Chennai,
Hyderabad, Kanpur, and Ludhiana, including setting-up sector-specific National Centres of
Excellence for skilling, with focus on advanced training of trainers with global partnership.
