The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers addresses Unstarred Question No. 2415 regarding the strengthening of the PM-PRANAM scheme. The government proposes to strengthen the PM-PRANAM scheme, which aims for Restoration, Awareness Generation, Nourishment and Amelioration of Mother Earth. Under the PM-PRANAM scheme (2023-24 to 2025-26), incentives are provided to States/UTs for reducing the consumption of chemical fertilizers (Urea, DAP, NPK, MOP). These incentives are equivalent to 50% of the fertilizer subsidy saved in a given financial year, compared to the average consumption over the previous three years. The scheme is funded from savings of fertilizer subsidy arising out of reduction in consumption of chemical fertilizers with no separate budget. States/UTs are required to submit Action Plans with utilization of the grants at the beginning of each financial year and provide Utilization Certificates at the end of the financial year. Grants for subsequent years are based on the proper utilization of the previous grants. The Minister of State in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers is Smt. Anupriya Patel.
