(a) the details of the comprehensive action plan and implementation strategy adopted by the
Government for the development, expansion and institutional strengthening of Yoga and
Naturopathy systems in the country;
(b) the total expenditure incurred on schemes, programmes, institutions and promotional
activities related to Yoga and Naturopathy from the financial year 2020-21 to 2024-25, year-wise
and State/UT-wise;
(c) the annual budget allocated specifically for the development of Yoga and Naturopathy under
the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) during the said period along with its geographical
distribution;
(d) the policy initiatives, research projects and centres/institutes established during this period to
promote research, innovation and evidence-based development in Yoga and Naturopathy; and
(e) whether the Government has undertaken any special initiatives in collaboration with State
Governments and private institutions to promote training, public awareness and integration of
Yoga and Naturopathy into public health systems and if so, the details thereof?

(a) Ministry of Ayush promotes Yoga and Naturopathy through its three autonomous bodies
namely Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi, Central Council for
Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN), New Delhi and National Institute of Naturopathy
(NIN), Pune.MDNIY provides various courses for Yoga education. CCRYN is the apex body for research and
development in the Yoga and Naturopathy systems. NIN, a premier institute for Naturopathy
organizes various activities related to Naturopathy and Yoga. Under the Central Council for
Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush,
three (03) Central Research Institutes of Yoga and Naturopathy hospitals are established at
Rohini, Delhi, Jhajjar, Haryana and Nagamangala, Karnataka. Also, under the aegis of NIN, an
Educational Institute with 250 bedded teaching hospital namely ‘Nisarg Gram’ is established in
Pune, Maharashtra.
The activities and programs of MDNIY, CCRYN and NIN are available on the websites
i.e.yogamdniy.nic.in, www.ccryn.gov.in and ninpune.ayush.gov.in respectively.
At the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the United Nations General
Assembly took a historic decision in 2014 to declare 21st June as the International Day of Yoga.
The Ministry of Ayush is the nodal Ministry for observation of the International Day of Yoga
(IDY) every year. IDY observation is focused on a Mass Yoga demonstration based on Common
Yoga Protocol (CYP) which is publicly available on the Yoga Portal (yoga.ayush.gov.in).
Considering the need of Yoga enthusiasts worldwide, the Ministry has developed Yoga Break
(Y-Break) mobile application. This app is especially designed for persons at work place so as to
keep them stay fit and healthy with a view to increase productivity.
Ministry of Ayush and World Health Organization (WHO) had jointly undertaken a project,
named, m-Yoga in the year 2019. This envisages the concept of the ‘Be Healthy, Be Mobile’
(BHBM) under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to achieve Universal Health
Coverage by 2030.The m-Yoga mobile App was launched by Honorable Prime Minister of India
on June 21, 2021 on the occasion of International Day of Yoga-2021.
Besides, Ministry is implementing the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the National Ayush
Mission (NAM) through State/UT Governments for the development and promotion of AYUSH
systems of medicine, including Yoga and Naturopathy. Grant-in-aid is provided to States/UTs
based on proposals submitted through their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs).
Under NAM, support for Yoga and Naturopathy is not provided through a separate budget head,
but is integrated within various eligible activities, such as AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres
(now renamed as Ayushman Arogya Mandir - Ayush), public health programmes, infrastructure
development, and strengthening of AYUSH educational institutions. These activities are
implemented by the States/UTs in accordance with their specific needs and priorities.
(b) & (c) Ministry of Ayush provides financial assistance to MDNIY, NIN and CCRYN in the
form of Grant-in-Aid. The total expenditure incurred on institutions and promotional activities
related to Yoga and Naturopathy from the financial year 2020-21 to 2024-25 is tabulated as

Further, under National Ayush Mission (NAM), based on SAAPs received from
States/UTs, the Ministry of Ayush released ₹3406.932 crore during 2020–21 to 2024–25
for implementation of various activities including Yoga and Naturopathy. The details are

(d) Ministry of Ayush is implementing the Central Sector Scheme namely AYURGYAN
Scheme since 2021-22 with the aim to support Research & Innovation in Ayush by providing
extra Mural Research activates and Education by providing academic activates, training and
capacity building etc. The Scheme has 03 components viz. (i) Capacity Building & Continuing
Medical Education (CME) in Ayush (ii) Research & Innovation in AYUSH from the FY 2021-
22 and iii) Ayurveda Biology Integrated Health Research has been added under the scheme from
FY 2023-24. There is a provision to provide support to Yoga & Naturopathy projects under
Research & innovation in Ayush component.
Further, National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) has been actively promoting scientific research
in the field of Naturopathy. The National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), Pune has established a
dedicated Research Department to strengthen evidence-based studies in Naturopathy and Yoga.
Under this department, NIN has successfully undertaken and published more than 60 research
studies in International peer-reviewed scientific journals during this period, covering a wide
range of topics related to Naturopathy, Yoga, Lifestyle Disorders, and Public Health.
Furthermore, during 2020-21 to 2024-25, Ministry of Ayush has established two (02) Central
Research Institutes of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) at Jhajjar, Haryana and Nagamangala,
Karnataka under Central Council of Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN). The Council is
running a scheme of establishing collaborative Research Centre’s (CRC) to undertakeCollaborative Research with leading Medical as well as Yoga and Naturopathy Institutions.
Furthermore, Yoga OPDs and integrative medicine centres have been set up in major health
institutes across the country to offer yoga therapy services for mental health.
