This document summarizes the Indian government's response to a parliamentary question regarding fertilizer supply in Karnataka during the Kharif 2025 season. The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers addresses concerns about potential fertilizer shortages raised by Shri Govind Makthappa Karjol.
The government asserts that it proactively manages fertilizer availability nationwide, including Karnataka, through the following measures:
* **Requirement Assessment:** The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DAFW) consults with state governments to assess fertilizer requirements before each cropping season on a state-wise and month-wise basis.
* **Allocation and Monitoring:** Based on DAFW projections, the Department of Fertilizers allocates adequate fertilizer quantities to states via monthly supply plans and continuously monitors availability.
* **Integrated Fertilizer Monitoring System (iFMS):** The movement of major subsidized fertilizers is tracked across the country using the iFMS, an online web-based monitoring system.
* **Coordination:** Weekly video conferences are conducted jointly by DAFW and the Department of Fertilizers with state agriculture officials to address any issues and ensure timely fertilizer dispatch.
The document states that the availability of Urea, DAP, MOP, and NPKS fertilizers in Karnataka has been adequate during the Kharif 2025 season (April 1, 2025 to August 4, 2025). Specific figures (in LMT - Lakh Metric Tonnes) are provided:
