Parliament Question: Telecom testing or certification facilities

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3049 TO BE ANSWERED ON 19TH MARCH, 2026 TELECOM TESTING OR CERTIFICATION FACILITIES 3049 SHRI NIRANJAN BISHI:

Will the Minister of Communications be pleased to state:

(a) whether Government proposes to establish telecom testing or certification facilities in eastern part of the country including Odisha; and

(b) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (DR. PEMMASANI CHANDRA SEKHAR)

(a) & (b) To carry out the testing and certification of telecom equipment and products, testing laboratories are designated as Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) by TEC. As on date, total 75 testing laboratories have been designated by TEC as Conformity Assessment Body, out of which there are 2 CABs in eastern part of the country at Kolkata. As on date, there is no Government proposal to establish telecom testing or certification facilities in eastern part of the country including Odisha.
