(a) whether the Government has assessed the textile sector potential of Nashik district in Maharashtra,
including handloom, powerloom, garment, and technical textiles;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with its key findings;
(c) whether small weavers, powerloom operators and textile MSMEs in Nashik reportedly face challenges
due to lack of modern infrastructure, common facilities, design and marketing support, and limited access
to credit despite various Central schemes, if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government proposes to approve any major textile park, modern cluster or skill
development centre specifically for Nashik to boost local employment; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor and steps proposed to be taken to develop Nashik as a sustainable textile
hub in Maharashtra?

PARAG PRAKASH WAJE REGARDING “TEXTILE SECTOR POTENTIAL IN NASHIK”.
(a) & (b): Ministry of Textiles has not conducted any district specific assessment study of Nashik.
However, the Ministry has assessed the potential of Nashik district while implementing various schemes
under powerloom, handloom and handicraft. Nashik district has a strong presence of textiles sector.
(c): The Ministry has continuously supported the improvement of the textiles ecosystem in Nashik. In
particular, to promote modernisation, under Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (ATUFS)
subsidy supports provided to 13 units in Nashik district. Support to common facilities under design
support to handloom clusters is given through Design Centre of two Weaver Service Centres. The
marketing supports are available under various schemes of Department of Commerce as well as through
Ministry of Textiles for organising and participating in trade fairs, exhibitions, buyer-seller meets etc. The
scheme under MSME such as Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) provides
credit supports, a total of 34 textiles units supported under PMEGP in Nashik in the last three years.
(d) & (e): The Powerloom Service Centre, Malegaon under the aegis of M/o Textiles provides short-
term basic weaving training for local people. Government under SAMARTH provides support to demand
driven, placement oriented, skilling programme. The State Government has introduced several schemes
under the Integrated & Sustainable Textiles Policy 2023-28, targeting ₹25,000 crore investment and 5
lakh jobs over five years. The policy offers benefits such as electricity subsidy, capital subsidy, and solar
energy subsidy to textile units across Maharashtra.
