Will the Minister of STATISTICS AND PROGRAMME
IMPLEMENTATION be pleased to state:
(a) the findings of the latest Rajasthan-specific Time Use Survey regarding the unpaid agricultural and allied work performed by rural women and its status in comparison with the national average;
(b) whether the methodology adequately covers the unpaid labour performed by women in animal husbandry and fodder collection, which is prevalent in the agrarian communities of Tonk-Sawai Madhopur;
(c) whether this data has influenced the design of any welfare or social security scheme for rural women agricultural labourers and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the timeline for the next phase of the Time Use Survey and district-level disaggregation is planned for Rajasthan? (a) to (d): The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation has conducted two nation wise Time Use Survey covering all the States/UTs including Rajasthan. The first all-India Time Use Survey was conducted during January to December 2019 and the second survey was conducted during the period January to December,
2024. The primary objective of Time Use Survey (TUS) is to measure participation of men and women in paid and unpaid activities. The Time Use Survey (TUS) does not capture the unpaid labour performed by rural women in activities such as agricultural and allied works, animal husbandry and fodder collection.Disaggregated state-wise and district-level data including Rajasthan on the above indicator are not generated in the TUS.
The estimates from TUS are available at all India and State/UT including Rajasthan levels for the persons of age 6 years and above.
Based on latest TUS conducted in 2024, the time spent (in Minutes) in a day on an average per person of age 6 years and above in the activities of major divisions of TUS activity classification in Rural Rajasthan and rural all-India level is given in table 1:
