Shri Adhikari Deepak Dev: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) the details of percentage of Government schools having non-functional/not useable and useable toilets in the country, State/UT-wise; (b) the number of schools having non-functional/not useable and useable toilets for girls in the country, State/UT-wise; and (c) whether the Government has set any targets towards total coverage of useable toilets in Government schools in the country, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a) and (b): As per UDISE+, State/UT wise percentage of Government schools having toilets facility, functional toilets facility, girls toilets facility and functional girls toilets facility for the year 2024-25 are available at https://www.education.gov.in/en/parl_ques. (c): Education is in the concurrent list of the Constitution and most of the schools are under the jurisdiction of concerned States and UTs. The Department of School Education and Literacy has launched an Integrated Centrally Sponsored Scheme for School Education Samagra Shiksha w.e.f. 2018-19.
