GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MINORITY AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 642 ANSWERED ON 22/07/2026 UMEED PORTAL FOR REGISTRATION OF WAQF PROPERTIES 642. SMT. SAJDA AHMED Will the Minister of MINORITY AFFAIRS be pleased to state:- (a) whether the registration of Waqf properties on the UMEED portal has been completed across the country; (b) if so, the details of total Waqf properties registered and those left out due to technical or other reasons, State/UT-wise; (c) whether legal ownership, protection and administrative rights of Waqf properties registered on the portal have been formally recognized; (d) if so, the details of legal framework or notifications issued in this regard; and (e) the steps taken to resolve pending/left-out registrations and ensure complete digitization and transparency of Waqf records? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF MINORITY AFFAIRS (SHRI KIREN RIJIJU) (a) to (b): As per Section 3B(1) of the UMEED Act, 1995, every waqf registered under this Act, prior to the commencement of the Act, shall file the details of the waqf and the property dedicated to the waqf on the portal and database, within a period of six months, with a provision for further extension of up to six months by the Waqf Tribunal on sufficient cause being shown by the mutawalli. As on 17.07.2026, total 7,99,978 waqf properties have been initiated for uploading on the UMEED Central Portal–2025. Out of these, 6,17,102 waqf properties have been validated and approved by the approver, 91,623 number of waqf properties pending at various stages of uploading, while 91,253 properties have been rejected during verification. The number of waqf properties, state-wise available at various stages of Maker, Checker and Approver are available in public domain on the UMEED Central Portal- 2025, i.e., umeed.minorityaffairs.gov.in.(c) & (d): The UMEED Central Portal-2025 is a statutory portal developed in accordance with Section 3(ka) the UMEED Act, 1995, for uploading and managing entire lifecycle of waqf properties including registration, verification, survey by the Collector, mutation, annual account audit etc. (e) As the statutory remedy available under the Act, further extensions were granted to the State/UT Waqf Boards by the concerned Hon’ble Waqf Tribunals/Courts after expiry of initial six months. Ministry has facilitated by reopening the UMEED Central Portal-2025 for those State/UT Waqf Boards who have been granted further extension by the concerned Hon’ble Waqf Tribunals or Courts for the purpose of uploading details of existing waqf and properties dedicated to waqf. *****
