SHRI KESINENI SIVANATH: Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृषि और ककसान कल्याण मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the details regarding the measures taken by the Government to promote industry– academia collaboration in Agricultural Universities, including internships, joint research projects, faculty exchange and industry-led curriculum development; (b) whether the Government is monitoring the implementation of the Sixth Deans’ Committee recommendations on curriculum reforms by agricultural universities and if so, the details regarding the number of universities complying and not complying with the prescribed norms in the country, State/UT-wise; (c) the details regarding the funds sanctioned and released by the Central Government to agricultural universities for curriculum upgradation, digital learning platforms, laboratories and infrastructure development during the last five years in the country, State/UT-wise and year- wise; and (d) the details of the assessment conducted, if any, regarding the impact of such interventions on student placements, skill development and research output? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृषि और ककसान कल्याण राज्य मंत्री (SHRI BHAGIRATH CHOUDHARY) (a): Provisions have been made in the 6th Deans’ Committee report for 13 Under Graduate (UG) disciplines in agriculture & allied fields to take-up internship in collaboration with industry both during exit after 1st year and 2nd year of UG and also in the 8th semester of the UG programme. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) also provides Veterinary Internship to veterinary graduate B.V.Sc. & AH students for six months at the rate of ₹3,000 per month. The Internship include precisely prescribed programmes of work in farms as well as in Veterinary hospitals. 1ICAR and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) are implementing joint research projects with industries in the area of agriculture & allied fields. ICAR provides support for quality assurance through accreditation, improvement of faculty competence, promoting excellence through scholarships/ fellowships, modernization of farms, IT support and up-gradation of infrastructure and facilities including libraries. There are a total of 1902 MoUs are signed for industry academia collaboration in Agricultural Universities, including internships, joint research projects, faculty exchange and industry-led curriculum development. (b): ICAR has been assigned the responsibility to aid, impart and coordinate agricultural education to enable quality human resource development. ICAR, in association with Agricultural Universities have been developing and revision course curricula in under graduate programmes since 1960s under the aegis of Dean’s Committee, constituted with the Deans of Agricultural Universities. Presently, Sixth Deans’ Committee has been implemented to align courses in the line with NEP 2020 report has been implemented in 80 Agricultural Universities (state wise list attached at Annexure-I). (c): State-wise financial assistance provided under the Plan Scheme “Strengthening and Development of Higher Agricultural Education in India” to Agricultural Universities (AUs) to upgrade, strengthen, modernize and enhance the amenities and infrastructure. State-wise list is attached (Annexure II).
