ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE
MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS
(SHRI TOKHAN SAHU)
(a) to (c): In the Union Budget 2025–26, the Government announced a scheme
for Industrial Housing with an outlay of ₹2,500 crore aimed at promoting
affordable rental housing for industrial workers in proximity to major
manufacturing and industrial hubs.
Pursuant to this announcement, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
(MoHUA) has conceptualised a scheme to facilitate the development of
dormitory-type rental accommodation near industrial zones, with the
objective of providing safe, hygienic and affordable living spaces for
workers close to their places of employment. Preliminary consultation with
stakeholders has been done. The scheme has not yet been approved so
expenditure is nil.
