Parliament Question: Vacancies in AYUSH research councils

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION No. 1932 TO BE ANSWERED ON 10.03.2026 Vacancies in AYUSH research councils 1932 Shri Derek O’ Brien: Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state: (a) whether West Bengal is among the top 5 in number of registered AYUSH practitioners; (b) the number of posts sanctioned, in-position strength of the staff and vacant posts in different autonomous bodies, including the AYUSH institutes and Research Councils, disaggregated by cadres and locations; (c) whether the shortage of staff have impacted the functioning, research output and healthcare delivery in AYUSH institutions, if so, the reason therefor; and (d) the details of steps being taken by Government to fill these vacancies and timelines for completing the recruitment process? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) to (d) As per Ayush in India 2023, West Bengal is among the top 5 in number of registered AYUSH practitioners. The details of total number of sanctioned, in-position and vacant posts in different Autonomous Bodies of Ministry of Ayush, are furnished at Annexure. Further, the Ministry has taken cognizance of the issue of vacant posts in certain Ayush Autonomous Bodies. While the vacancies exist from time to time due to retirement, promotion, resignation and creation of new posts, necessary steps are taken on a continuous basis to ensure that the functioning, research activities and healthcare delivery in Ayush Autonomous Bodies remain largely unaffected. The institutions also adopt suitable administrative measures such as redistribution of work, engagement of contractual manpower, outsourcing and utilization of available human resources to maintain continuity of services.
