Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the number of vacancies and sanctioned posts across schools of Navodaya
Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), both faculty and non-faculty posts;
(b) the details of recruitment for permanent positions done at NVS (both faculty and
non-faculty) done since 2014, year and category-wise;
(c) the number of contractual staff (both faculty and non-faculty) hired at NVS since
2014, year-wise;
(d) the number of posts filled by EWS, OBC and SCs/STs in NVS across faculty and
non-faculty posts, category-wise; and
(e) whether reservation norms have been followed in recruiting contractual staff at
NVS and if so, the details of contractual staff from EWS, OBC and SCs/STs,
category-wise?

(a) to (e): Vacancies keep on arising due to opening of new Navodaya Vidyalayas
(NVs), retirement, resignation, promotion of employees, transfer, employees going
on lien to another department and up-gradation of schools. Filling up of vacancies is
a continuous process and efforts are made to fill up the vacancies as per the
provisions of the relevant recruitment rules. Teachers are also engaged on
contractual basis for temporary duration at the local level against sanctioned posts,
whenever regular or leave vacancies arise in a NV to ensure that the teaching-
learning process is not hampered.
Regular appointment is made by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) through
direct recruitment process as per the recruitment rules of NVS incorporating the
reservation norms as notified by the Government of India from time to time. The staff
are engaged on contractual for short duration or on urgent need basis to protect the
interest of the students.The faculty (teaching) and non-faculty (non-teaching) posts sanctioned and
vacant in NVS as on 30.09.2025, are as under:
