SHRI SAMIRUL ISLAM Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the year-wise and country-wise details of sanctioned and in-position posts in all Indian Embassies and Consulates during the last five years; and (b) the rank-wise and year-wise details of staff engaged on contractual basis in Indian Embassies and Consulates during that period? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI PABITRA MARGHERITA) (a & b) As on 01 January 2026, the total sanctioned strength of Missions and Posts of MEA is 3264. Additionally, the number of local staff engaged on contract basis in Indian Embassies and Consulates is 3179. Vacancies in Indian Missions/Posts abroad are assessed and filled on a dynamic basis as per requirement. Therefore, the year-wise and country-wise details of sanctioned and in-position posts in all Indian Embassies and Consulates at a single date for last five years is not available. *****
