MINISTER OF STATE FOR AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE
कृ िष एवं िकसान क(cid:670)ाण रा(cid:475) मं(cid:361)ी (SHRI BHAGIRATH CHOUDHARY)
(a) to (d) : Minor irrigation projects in flood-affected districts of Assam are eligible for
consideration under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana - Har Khet Ko Pani
(PMKSY-HKKP). At present, 10 clusters comprising 474 Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI)
schemes in Assam are under implementation under PMKSY-HKKP. Through the
implementation of these schemes, an irrigation potential of 1.32 lakh hectares has been
created up to March 2025. The details of these schemes are provided in Annexure.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM)
Scheme was launched by the Government in March, 2019 to provide financial support to
the farmers for installation of standalone solar pumps and solarization of existing grid-
connected agriculture pumps, and to provide the farmers an opportunity to become solar
entrepreneurs by installing solar power plants on their barren/ fallow/ agriculture land. It
is a demand-driven scheme, and capacities are allocated based on the demand raised
by the state and milestones achieved. The scheme is being implemented in all states,
including the State of Assam. State Implementing Agencies (SIA) are empowered for
beneficiary selection and further implementation of the scheme at district level including
flood-affected areas. As on 28.02.2026, as reported by the SIA, the Letter of
Award/Work Orders are issued for 1695 pumps, out of which 1,066 solar pumps have
been installed under the PM-KUSUM Scheme in Assam, including flood affected districts
of the State. These pumps are estimated to cover about 3390 hectares of agricultural
land.Annexure to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No.2922 for answer on 10.03.2026
