Parliament Question: Water Supply Projects in Mainpuri under AMRUT 2.0

O.I.H. GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3298 TO BE ANSWERED ON MARCH 12, 2026 WATER SUPPLY PROJECTS IN MAINPURI UNDER AMRUT 2.0 NO. 3298. SMT. DIMPLE YADAV: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the approved cost, Centre and State share, funds released, expenditure incurred and actual progress made regarding the water supply projects approved for Mainpuri under AMRUT 2.0; (b) the reasons for approving only two water supply projects in Mainpuri while projects relating to sewerage, wastewater treatment and urban green infrastructure have not been included; (c) the reasons for not approving sewerage systems or Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in Mainpuri despite the flow of untreated wastewater into local drains and water bodies; and (d) whether any proposals related to sewerage systems, STPs, rejuvenation of water bodies and development of green spaces are under consideration and if so, the expected timeline for their approval? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI TOKHAN SAHU) (a) to (d): Water and Sanitation is State subject. Government of India supplements the efforts of the States through schematic interventions/ advisories. It provides financial and technical support to the States through various schemes/ Missions such as Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 (AMRUT 2.0). Under AMRUT 2.0, the State is empowered to select, appraise, prioritise and implement the projects as per their local requirements within the broad framework of Mission guidelines. Under AMRUT 2.0, the State Water Action Plans comprising of 651 projects worth ₹26,761.06 crore including ₹8,161 crore of Central assistance have been approved for the State of Uttar Pradesh, which includes 02 water supply projects and 01 water body rejuvenation project in Mainpuri District.
