Maharashtra Motor Vehicles tax act.
No. PPP-2021/CR-152/Road-8.– In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1-A), (1-B),
(1-C), (1-D) and (1-E) of section 20 of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Tax Act (LXV of 1958), and of
all other powers enabling it in this behalf, the Government of Maharashtra hereby declares toll shall
be levied on the classes of motor vehicles specified in the Schedule - I appended hereto and on the
trailors drawn by such motor vehicles, passing over the section of the Hindu Hridayasamrat Balasaheb
Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg (Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway)
at the Shendra Interchage at kilometers 401/465 and also the flyovers, bridges constructed on the
Interchage and approach roads and connectors thereto partly or fully, at the rates per kilometer
specified against each of the said vehicles specified in Schedule-I, with effect from the 29th December
2025 to the 10th December 2032, at toll collection centres specified in column (2) of the Schedule-II
appended hereto constructed at the chainage nos. specified against each of the said toll collection
centre specified in column (3) of the Schedule-II on the said section of the said road.

Explanation :-
(a) “car” or “jeep” or “van” or “light motor vehicle” means any mechanical vehicle the gross vehicle
weight of which does not exceed seven thousand five hundred kilogram or the registered passenger
carrying capability as specified in certificate of registration issued under the Motor Vehicles Act,
1988 (59 of 1988), but does not exceed twelve, excluding driver;
(b) “light commercial vehicle” or “light goods vehicle” or “mini bus” means any mechanical
vehicle with a gross vehicle weight equal to or exceeding seven thousand five hundred kilogram but
less than twelve thousand kilograms or the registered passenger carrying capability as specified in
the certificate of registration issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, exceed twelve but does not
exceed thirty two, excluding the driver;
(c) “truck” or “bus” means any mechanical vehicle with a gross vehicle weight exceeding twelve
thousand kilogram but less than twenty thousand kilograms or the registered passenger carrying
capability as specified in the certificate of registration issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988,
exceeds thirty two, excluding the driver;
(d) three-axle vehicle” means any mechanical vehicle with three - axles (inclusive of the axle of the
trailer, if any) and with a gross vehicle weight, less than or equal to twenty five thousand kilogram;
(e) “heavy construction machinery” or “earth moving equipment” or “multi-axle vehicle” means
heavy construction machinery or earth moving equipment or mechanical vehicle including a multi-
axle vehicle with four to six axles or vehicles (inclusive of the axle of the trailer, if any) with a gross
vehicle weight exceeding twenty thousand kilogram but less than sixty thousand kilogram;
(f) “oversized vehicle” means any mechanical vehicle having seven or more axles or vehicle with
a gross vehicle weight equal or greater than sixty thousand kilogram.
Notes :-
1. The following types of vehicles are exempted from payment of toll, namely :
(a) Vehicles transporting and accompanying, -
(i) the President of India;
(ii) the Vice-President of India;
(iii) the Prime Minister of India;
(iv) the Chief Justice of India;
(v) the Governor;
(vi) the Lieutenant Governor;
(vii) the Union Minister;
(viii) the Chief Minister;
(ix) the Judge of Supreme Court;
(x) the Speaker of the House of People;

(xviii) the ex-members of Parliament from Maharashtra, Maharashtra Legislative
Assembly and Maharashtra Legislative Council;
(b) Vehicles used for official purposes by, –
(i) defence vehicle;
(ii) the Central and State armed forces in uniform including para military forces
and police in uniform;
(iii) a fire-fighting department vehicles;
(iv) Post and Telegraph Department;
(v) officers inspecting and monitoring the Hindu Hridayasamrat Balasaheb
Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg;
(c) Ambulance.
(d) Hearses.
2. Non-propelled vehicles, two wheelers, three wheelers, six seater auto rickshaw, tractors are
not permitted on Hindu Hridayasamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg
(Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway).
3. For the purpose of this Notification the “Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway
Limited”, is authorized to collect the toll at the abovementioned toll collection centres on Hindu
Hridayasamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg (Nagpur-Mumbai Super
Communication Expressway) for above mentioned period and retain the amount of the toll.
4. Amount of toll levied shall be the multiplication of the distance travelled by the commuter
on this road and the rate of toll per kilometer applicable for that category of vehicle rounded off to
the nearest multiple of five rupees.
