ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES ACT, 1955.
No. Petrol-2025/C.R.66/C.S.27.—Whereas Employees of M/s Bharat Petroleum Corporation
Ltd. in non-management cadre are being exhorted by their union viz. M/s Bharat Petroleum
Corporation (Refinery) Employees Union (BPCREU) to proceed on strike of 1 day (24 hours) i.e.
on 9th July (07.45 AM) to 10th July 2025 (7.45 AM) for their various demands. Bharat Petroleum
Corporation Ltd. which will lead to disruption of supply and distribution of Petroleum Products
such as LPG, Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene etc. and will also cause great hardship & inconvenience to
General Public at large during the period of strike ;
Whereas for maintaining the supplies of Essential Commodities as defined in sub-section
(viii) of section 2 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955), as amended by the Essential
Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2006 (54 of 2006) which came into force on 12th February 2007
and for securing their equitable distribution and availability at sales outlets, it is necessary for
the Government to declare the above acts of M/s Bharat Petroleum Corporation (Refinery)
Employees Union (BPCREU) as prejudicial to the supply, storage and distribution of Essential
Commodities (Petroleum Products) such as LPG, Petrol, Diesel, CNG, Kerosene etc. and as an
offence under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2)(d)(e) of section 3 of the
Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955), the Government of Maharashtra hereby declares
the following act or acts done by an individual or group of individuals M/s Bharat Petroleum
Corporation (Refinery) Employees Union (BPCREU) as an offence under the Essential
Commodities Act, 1955.
“ Obstruction or interruption caused by any direct or indirect means in the process or to a
person engaged in the process of production, storage, transportation and sale of petroleum and
petroleum products such as LPG, Petrol, diesel, Kerosene etc. notified as essential commodities
by Government of India. ”
This order shall come into force on 9th July (07.45 AM) to 10th July 2025 (7.45 AM) i.e. on the
day of strike of employees of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. in non-management cadre.
