## Policy Summary: Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI)
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) to boost the food processing sector in India. As of June 2025, the scheme has approved 278 food processing units from 170 applicants across the country and released ₹1726.60 crore in incentives. The PLISFPI stipulates that the entire manufacturing chain, including primary processing, must occur within India to be eligible for incentives.
The scheme has demonstrably increased the export of agricultural processed food products, achieving a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 13.23% between 2019-20 and 2024-25. It has also led to an increase in food processing capacity of 35.00 lakh MT per annum. The PLISFPI has generated approximately 3.39 lakh jobs, including both direct and indirect employment.
The state-wise distribution of approved units under the PLISFPI includes Andhra Pradesh (38), Assam (4), Bihar (7), Chhattisgarh (1), Goa (1), Gujarat (32), Haryana (9), Himachal Pradesh (4), Jammu & Kashmir (2), Jharkhand (2), Karnataka (21), Kerala (10), Madhya Pradesh (10), Maharashtra (41), Odisha (5), Punjab (9), Rajasthan (6), Tamil Nadu (20), Telangana (13), Uttar Pradesh (27), Uttarakhand (7), and West Bengal (9). The scheme does not cover floricultural production.

The incentives under the PLISFPI are admissible where the entire chain of manufacturing processes, including
primary processing of the food products applied for coverage under the scheme takes place in India. Total
export of agricultural processed food products of the applicants approved under PLISFPI has increased with a
Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 13.23% as on 2024-25 with reference to 2019-20. The scheme
does not cover floricultural production.
278 food processing units of 170 applicants have been approved under various categories of the Production
Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) implemented by Ministry of Food
Processing Industries (MoFPI) across the country. A total of ₹ 1726.60 crore has been released as incentives
till June 2025. State-wise details are at Annexure.
The scheme has led to increase in food processing capacity of 35.00 lakh MT per annum in the Country.
