Prime Minister's Office PM condoles loss of lives in firecracker factory mishap in Kaushambi PM announces ex-gratia from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund

Posted On: 31 AUG 2026 9:59PM by PIB Delhi The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a mishap at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. Shri Modi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Shri Modi also announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund

(PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

The Prime Minister posted on X;

Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. May the injured recover at the earliest.

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased.
