As of March 12, 2026, 452 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) have been operationalized across 23 Circles in India. These Kendras aim to enhance last-mile connectivity, making passport services more inclusive, affordable, and citizen-centric. The Ministry of Communications has observed that POPSK expansion has significantly improved access to passport services by reducing travel distance, time, and associated costs for citizens.
The number of passport applications, including police clearance certificates, processed in the last three years were: 35,05,818 in 2023, 32,38,811 in 2024, and 39,59,325 in 2025.

Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar in a written
reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today said that as on date, 452 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras
(POPSK) have been operationalized across 23 Circles. Details are placed at Annexure.
Details of the number of passport applications, including police clearance certificates in the last 3 years
are - 35,05,818 (2023), 32,38,811 (2024) and 39,59,325 (2025).
The Ministry has undertaken periodic assessments to evaluate the impact of POPSK expansion on
passport accessibility. Significant access to passport services for citizens by reducing travel distance, time
and associated costs are observed. POPSKs have also enhanced last-mile connectivity and made passport
services more inclusive, affordable, and citizen-centric across the country.
