**Summary of the Promotion of Ayush System in Kerala**
On March 17, 2026, Shri Pratap Rao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, provided a detailed report in the Rajya Sabha regarding the strengthening of Ayush services in Kerala under the National Ayush Mission (NAM).
**Financial Assistance**
Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of NAM, the Central Government provided total financial assistance of **28,565.577 lakhs** to Kerala over a four-year period, based on proposals from State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs). The annual breakdown is as follows:
* **2022-23:** 4,399.827 lakhs
* **2023-24:** 7,989.400 lakhs
* **2024-25:** 11,037.960 lakhs
* **2025-26:** 5,138.390 lakhs
**Infrastructure and Wellness Centres**
While public health is a State subject, the Ministry of Ayush approved the upgrade of **700 dispensaries** in Kerala to **Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush)** units. According to the State Government, all 700 centres are currently operational, offering holistic healthcare services and interventions, including Yoga, to the community.
**Medical Value Travel (MVT) Initiatives**
To promote and propagate Medical Value Travel, the Ministry successfully organized the Ayush MVT Summit for the South Zone on May 26, 2025, in Chennai. The summit included participation from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

State of Kerala during the last three years and current year against the proposals received through State

(b) Public Health being a State subject, the establishment of new Ayush wellness centres in Kerala comes
under the purview of respective State Governments. However, under NAM, as per the proposals received
from State Government of Kerala through SAAPs, Ministry of Ayush has approved for upgrading 700
Dispensaries as Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) and as reported by State Government, all are
operational and providing holistic healthcare to the community through different Ayush interventions
including Yoga.
(c) For promotion and propagation of Medical Value Travel (MVT), Ministry of Ayush has successfully
organized an Ayush MVT Summit for the South Zone on 26th May 2025 in Chennai with participation
from the States of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and the Union Territory
of Puducherry.
