The Ministry of Ayush has resolved to celebrate 'Ayurveda Day' annually on Dhanwantri Jayanti (Dhanteras) to promote Ayurveda.
The Ministry of Ayush has established the 'National Dhanwantri Ayurveda Award' to recognize eminent Vaidyas and Ayurveda experts.
Key Changes
The 'National Dhanwantri Ayurveda Award' will consist of a citation, a Dhanwantari statue trophy, and a cash reward of Rupees five lakh.
Three awards will be given annually.
Eligible candidates must have significant contributions to Ayurveda at the national or international level, or in teaching, research, policy, or integration of Ayurveda in national health programs.
Candidates must be renowned Ayurvedic practitioners with at least twenty years of professional experience and be no less than forty years old.
Candidates must hold a recognized degree in Ayurveda as per the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, or The Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970.
Past awardees will not be considered for the same award a second time.
The selection committee will consist of the Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush (Chairman) and three Ayurveda experts nominated by the Secretary (Members).
The selection committee will invite online nominations via the National Awards Portal (http://awards.gov.in).
This resolution supersedes the earlier resolution dated 1st June, 2017 (F.No.11019/05/2016-(HPC).

लोकजप्रय बनाने के जलए पूरे दिे में जहतधारकों द्वारा जवजभन्न गजतजवजधयां िुरू की जाएंगी।
2. आयुष मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार न े इस ददवस पर प्रख्यात वैद्यों और आयुवेद जविेषज्ञों को पुरस्ट् कृत करने के जलए
"राष्ट्रीय धन् वंतरी आयुवेद परु स्ट्कार" की संस्ट् थापना की ह ै तादक उन् ह ें आयुवेद के क्षेत्र म ें उत्कृष्टता प्राप् त करन े हते ु इसकी
सवोत्तम पद्धजतयों को अपनाने के जलए प्रेररत दकया जा सके। इस संबंध म,ें आयुष मंत्रालय द्वारा पुरस्ट्कार हते ु जनम्नजलजखत
ददिा जनदेि भी स्ट्थाजपत दकए गए ह:ैं -

काय-ण क्षत्रे राष्ट्रीय या अंतराणष्ट्रीय स्ट्तर पर आयुवेद के प्रचार और प्रसार के संदभण में आयुवेद के क्षेत्र
में महत्वपूण ण योगदान या राष्ट्रीय स्ट्तर पर आयुवेद को बढावा देन े और उसके एकीकरण
के जलए जिक्षण या अनुसंधान और जवकास या नीजत और आयोजना, लोगों को बडे
पैमाने पर लाभ पहचं ान े वाल े जवजभन्न राष्ट्रीय स्ट्वास्ट््य कायणक्रमों के साथ आयुवेद को
जोडना।
काया ण वजध प्रख् यात आयुवेददक जचदकत्सक जो कम से कम बीस साल का पिे ेवर अनुभव रखते हों।
क्षत्रे या सामाजजक प्रभाव आयुवेद पेिेवरों द्वारा राष्ट्रीय और अतं राष्ट्रण ीय स्ट्त र पर आयवु ेद के क्षेत्र म ें दकए गए
कायों का समाज पर प्रत्यक्ष या अप्रत्यक्ष प्रभाव होना चाजहए।
आय ु चालीस वषण से कम नहीं होनी चाजहए।
िजै क्षक योग्यता भारतीय जचदकत्सा पद्धजत राष्ट्रीय आयोग अजधजनयम, 2020 या भारतीय जचदकत्सा
केंद्रीय पररषद अजधजनयम, 1970, जो भी लागू हो, के प्रावधानों के अनुसार मान्यता
प्राप्त आयुवेद में जडग्री पुरस्ट्कार के जलए पात्र होगी।
जपछल े परु स्ट्कार जवजते ाओं पर जपछल े पुरस्ट्कार जवजेताओं पर उसी पुरस्ट्कार के जलए दसू री बार जवचार नहीं दकया
जवचार दकया जाएगा या नहीं जाएगा।
परु स्ट्कारों की प्रकृजत और सख्ं या:
प्रजत वषण तीन परु स्ट्कार ददए जाएंगे।
चयन प्रदक्रया:
चयन सजमजत का गठन जनम्न ानसु ार होगा:-
(i) सजचव, आयुष मंत्रालय - अध् यक्ष
(ii) सजचव द्वारा नाजमत तीन आयुवदे जविेषज्ञ - सदस्ट् य
चयन सजमजत द्वारा परु स्ट्कार जवजेताओं का एक पैनल तैयार दकया जाएगा और अंजतम चयन माननीय आयषु मंत्री
द्वारा दकया जाएगा।
चयन सजमजत राष्ट्रीय पुरस्ट्कार पोर्णल (http://awards.gov.in) पर अपलोड दकए गए जनधाणररत प्रारूप म ें
ऑनलाइन नामांकन आमंजत्रत करेगी। चयन सजमजत पुरस्ट्कार जवजेताओं का चयन करने के जलए अपनी प्रदक्रया तैयार
करेगी।
परु स्ट्कार प्रदान करना:
यह परु स्ट्कार धन् वंतरी जयंती (धनतेरस) पर मनाए जान े वाल े वार्तषक "आयुवेद ददवस" के अवसर पर प्रदान दकया
जाएगा और परु स्ट्कार जवजेताओं के नाम आजधकाररक राजपत्र में प्रकाजित दकए जाएगं े।
इस संकल्प को ददनांक 01 जून, 2017 (एफ. सं. 11019/05/2016-(एचपीसी) के पूव ण संकल्प के अजधक्रमण म ें
जारी दकया जाता ह।ै

New Delhi, the 7th November, 2023
F. No. A.11019/05/2016-HPC (Pt 1).—The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India has decided to
celebrate “Ayurveda Day” every year on the day of Dhanwantri Jayanti (Dhanteras). Various activities shall be
undertaken by the stake holders throughout the Country for promotion, propagation and popularisation of Ayurveda.[भाग I—खण् ड 1] भारत का राजपत्र : असाधारण 3
2. The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India has instituted “National Dhanwantri Ayurveda Award” to be
conferred on this day of eminent Vaidyas and Ayurveda experts to motivate them to adopt best practices of Ayurveda
in pursuit of excellence and has established the following guidelines governing the award, in this behalf :-
Title of the Award Details
National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Award Citation, Trophy (Dhanwantari Statue) and Cash reward
of Rupees five lakh.
Purpose:
To encourage excellence through competition. These awards would help to promote and motivate adoption of best
practices in the pursuit of excellence in Ayurveda.
Eligibility Criteria Parameters:
Scope of Work Significant contribution in the field of Ayurveda in terms of promotion and propagation
of Ayurveda at National or International Level or
Teaching or Research and development or Policy and planning for Ayurveda promotion
and integration at National level, integration of Ayurveda in various National Health
Programs benefiting people at large scale etc.
Tenure and Longevity Renowned Ayurvedic practitioners with minimum twenty years professional experience.
Field or Social Impact The Ayurveda professionals should have direct or indirect impact on the society through
work in the field of Ayurveda at the national and international level.
Age Not less than forty years.
Educational A Degree in Ayurveda recognised as per the provisions of the National Commission for
Qualification Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020 or The Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970
as applicable would be eligible for the award.
Past awardees Past awardees will not be considered for second time for the same award.

Nature and Number of Awards:
There shall be three awards to be given annually.
Method of Selection:
The Selection Committeee shall have the following composition as given below:-
(i) Secretary, Ministry of Ayush ; - Chairman;
(ii) Three Ayurveda experts to be nominated by the Secretary - Members.
A panel of awardees would be prepared by the selection committee for final selection by the Hon’ble
Minister of Ayush.
The Selection Committee will invite online nominations in the prescribed format uploaded on the National
Awards Portal (http://awards.gov.in). The Selection Committee will devise its own procedure to select the awardees.
Presentation of Award:
The award shall be presented at the time of Annual “Ayurveda Day” to be celebrated on Dhanwantari Jayanti
(Dhanteras) and the names of awardees shall be published in the Official Gazette.
This Resolution is issued in supersession of earlier Resolution dated 1st June, 2017 (F.No.11019/05/
2016-(HPC).
