It highlights significant advancements in breed conservation, genetic upgradation, and productivity enhancements for indigenous cattle and Murrah buffaloes. Key results include a 59% increase in milk production over 11 years and the successful deployment of doorstep IVF and artificial insemination technologies. **Key Points / Main Content** **Breed Improvement and Artificial Insemination (AI)** * **Nationwide AI Programme:** Enhanced AI coverage delivered at farmers' doorsteps, reaching 4.7 lakh farmers and performing 9.41 lakh procedures. * **Sex Sorted Semen:** Promotion of indigenous breeds using sex-sorted semen with incentives up to 50% for assured pregnancies. * **Cost Reduction:** The launch of indigenously developed technology has reduced the cost of sex-sorted semen from Rs 800 to Rs 250 per dose. **Advanced Reproductive Technologies** * **IVF Infrastructure:** Establishment of an IVF lab at Hissar for the genetic upgradation of Hariana cattle and Murrah buffalo, producing 535 viable embryos to date. * **Accelerated IVF Programme:** Farmers receive an incentive of Rs 5000 per assured pregnancy through IVF technology delivered at their doorsteps. * **Outcome Statistics:** Across the program, 7,957 embryos were transferred, resulting in 1,588 pregnancies and 1,149 calves (including 1,068 females). **Genetic Merit and Conservation** * **HGM Bull Production:** Implementation of Progeny Testing and Pedigree Selection to produce disease-free High Genetic Merit (HGM) bulls. * **Haryana Specifics:** The state has produced 369 HGM Murrah buffalo bulls and 69 HGM Hariana cattle bulls. * **Gokul Gram:** A center established in Hissar for scientific conservation, though this specific component was discontinued under the 2021-22 to 2025-26 revised mission. **Productivity and Population Growth** * **Livestock Census:** Indigenous cattle population in Haryana increased by 16.94% between the 19th and 20th census. * **Daily Milk Yield:** Total bovine productivity increased by 39.14% (from 7.69 kg/day in 2014-15 to 10.70 kg/day in 2024-25). * **Total Output:** Annual milk production in the state rose from 79.01 lakh tonnes to 125.93 lakh tonnes over 11 years. **Impact Analysis** **Stakeholder: Farmers** **Impact** Farmers benefit from reduced costs for advanced breeding technologies, doorstep service delivery, and financial incentives for successful pregnancies. Increased animal productivity leads to higher daily milk yields and improved income. **Action Required** Farmers should participate in fertility camps, training programs, and workshops to adopt AI and IVF technologies and claim available financial incentives. **Stakeholder: Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (State/Central)** **Impact** The department is responsible for managing the Rs 113.60 crore assistance and maintaining infrastructure like the Hissar IVF lab and semen stations. They have successfully overseen a significant rise in the indigenous cattle population and milk productivity. **Action Required** Continue implementing the revised Rashtriya Gokul Mission (2021-22 to 2025-26), focus on HGM bull distribution to semen stations, and maintain awareness campaigns such as milk yield competitions and calf rallies. **Stakeholder: Livestock Breeders and Scientists** **Impact** There is a structured framework for the scientific development and conservation of indigenous breeds (Hariana and Murrah). Scientists have access to indigenously developed sex-sorted semen technology and IVF facilities. **Action Required** Focus on the continued production of disease-free HGM bulls through Progeny Testing and Pedigree Selection to ensure long-term genetic improvement.
