Delhi, the 4th May, 2026
F. No. 10 (13)/Env/2015/807.—In pursuance of the order dated 12.03.2026 passed by the Hon’ble Supreme
Court of India in W.P. (C) No. 13029/1985 (M.C. Mehta v. Union of India), whereby the recommendations of the
Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) regarding revision of Environment Compensation Charge (ECC)
have been approved, and in supersession/modification of earlier notifications issued in this regard, the Government of
National Capital Territory of Delhi hereby revises the Environment Compensation Charge (ECC) on Delhi-bound
commercial vehicles as under:

2. The revised ECC rates shall come into effect from 01.04.2026 and shall thereafter be enhanced by 5% every year,
with effect from the said date, rounded off to the nearest ₹10, in accordance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme
Court and the recommendations of CAQM.
3. The implementation, collection and enforcement mechanism for the revised ECC rates shall be carried out by the
concerned authorities in a manner consistent with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
