Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

What it means

  • This gazette notification from the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) promulgates the Delhi Prisons Matron Recruitment Rules, 2024. These rules supersede previous rules dated 06.09.2018, except for actions already taken under those rules.
  • The notification details the recruitment process, qualifications, age limits, and other requirements for the post of Matron in the Delhi Prisons Department.

Key Changes

  • The notification supersedes the previous recruitment rules (No. F.9/09/2010/Home (G)/2297-2303 dated 06.09.2018).
  • 176 Matron positions are to be filled (subject to variation depending on workload).
  • The pay level is specified as Level-3 in the pay matrix (Rs. 21700 - Rs. 69100).
  • The age limit for direct recruitment is 18-25 years (relaxable up to 40 years for departmental candidates). For all-India open competition, the age limit is 18-27 years.
  • Educational qualifications require a 10+2 pass from a recognized board/institute.
  • Physical and medical standards are detailed, including vision requirements and physical endurance tests (PET) with specifications for both male and female candidates, including ex-servicemen.
  • The recruitment method is primarily direct recruitment, with a provision for filling vacancies through deputation in specific circumstances (vacancies caused by deputation, long illness, etc. for a year or more).

Impact Analysis

Impact on Potential Candidates

  • The possibility of filling vacancies through deputation may limit opportunities for direct recruitment.

Impact on Delhi Prisons Department

  • The detailed criteria may increase the time and resources needed for recruitment.
